This Manjistha-dyed cotton and Eri silk mekhela sador is elegance adrift — soft as a lullaby, timeless as love itself, soft as a dream.
Mekhela Sador is the traditional Assamese drape equivalent of a saree, worn by Assamese women and now embraced by fashionistas across the world. It is a versatile garment - a two-piece set consisting of a lower cylindrical garment called the Mekhela, folded into pleats and is worn waist down over a petticoat. The upper garment called the Sador ( or chador/chadar) is pleated or let loose at the end like a saree pallu and worn over the left shoulder while the other end is brought to the front and pleated and tucked into the petticoat.
Size: Sador - 2.75m (Approx)
